Fair-pay activist and Jacksonville native Lilly Ledbetter (1938- ) was a manager at a Goodyear Tire and Rubber plant in Gadsden,
Etowah County, who sued the company for discriminatory pay practices and other abuses. The U.S. Supreme Court sided with Goodyear
in the lawsuit, but Ledbetter took her fight to the U.S. Congress, resulting in the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009,
the first bill Pres. Barack Obama signed into law.
