Magnetophone at the Museum of East Alabama

The Museum of East Alabama in Opelika, Lee County, displays one of two German tape recorders recovered by intelligence officer and Opelika native John Herbert Orr during World War II. The other recorder resides in the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Orr returned to Alabama after the war and began a firm that made magnetic recording tape.
