Clement Claiborne Clay

Huntsville native Clement Claiborne Clay served in the Alabama State Legislature and the U.S. Senate prior to the outbreak of the Civil War. During the conflict, he worked as a Confederate propagandist in Canada and was briefly implicated in the plot to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln.
