Early Jurassic Landscape

This image is a computer-generated recreation of what Alabama probably looked like during the Early Jurassic. At this time, some 200 million years ago, the landscape in what is now Alabama was submerged under the young Gulf of Mexico in the southern region and was a harsh, arid desert environment in the northern region.
