Anhydrite

Anhydrite (anhydrous calcium sulfate) is a mineral that is most commonly found in areas that once were covered by shallow seas and tidal areas. Like salt, it is produced through the evaporation of water in arid climates. The presence of Anhydrite in Alabama rocks of the Jurassic indicates that the southeastern United States had such a climate during that time.
