Umbrella-Tree

The umbrella-tree (Magnolia tripetala) is one of the large-leaf magnolias and may produce leaves up to 30 inches in length. This small tree is found in the mountainous northern areas of the state, although it has been found rarely in the Coastal Plain. Umbrella-tree flowers lack the fragrance common to other magnolia species found in the state.
