 Lophorhothon Ankle Bone

A Lophorhothon metatarsal (ankle bone) recovered from western Alabama. The projection on the lower right is an embedded shark tooth from the species Squalicorax kaupi. The presence of the tooth provides firm evidence that sharks were scavenging carcasses of Lophorhothon in the Late Cretaceous sea.
