Emanuel Lehman
Emanuel Lehman (1828-1907) was one of three Jewish-German immigrant brothers whose cotton brokerage, founded in Montgomery
during the mid-nineteenth century, eventually expanded to become the financial conglomerate Lehman Brothers. In 1858 Emanuel
opened a branch of the company's cotton brokerage in New York City, which became the company's headquarters following the
Civil War.
