Mayer Lehman (1830-1897) was one of three Jewish-German immigrant brothers who founded the company that would become financial giant Lehman Brothers in Montgomery during the mid-nineteenth century. During the late 1850s and early 1860s, Mayer ran the company's office in Montgomery while his brother, Emanuel, ran its main branch in New York City.
