Birmingham Civil Rights Institute

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is a musuem depicting the major figures and events of the modern U.S. civil rights movement through interpretive displays and educational materials such as a replica of a bus from the Freedom Rides and short films such as "The March" and "Give us the Vote." In development since the late 1970s, the institute opened in 1992 in downtown Birmingham's Civil Rights Cultural District.
