Streight's Raid 1 of 3

In April 1863, Union Colonel Abel D. Streight led a cavalry brigade east across north Alabama toward Rome, Georgia, aiming to disrupt Confederate supply lines to Tennessee. Confederate General Nathaniel Bedford Forrest pursued Streight's troops, who were slowed by the use of mules as mounts, and engaged them on April 30 at Day's Gap in Cullman County.
