Modern Cotton Production in Alabama

Cotton covers more acreage in Alabama than any other row crop. Cotton was the undisputed "king" of Alabama agriculture until the early twentieth century, when the boll weevil migrated into Alabama and decimated harvests, forcing farmers to diversify their plantings.
