Gravestone of Davy Tate

Davy Tate was the son of mapmaker David Taitt and half-brother of Creek leader William Weatherford. Historians have frequently misidentified Davy's father as "John Tate" owing to an error in Gen. Thomas Woodward's Reminiscences of the Creek, Or Muscogee, Indians, published in 1859. Davy Tate died and was buried in Baldwin County in 1829.
