Birmingham native Cornelius Bennett was an All-American linebacker for the University of Alabama football program from 1983-86, during which the Crimson Tide had a record of 32 wins, 15 losses, and 1 tie under coach Ray Perkins. Bennett later played for the Buffalo Bills, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Indianapolis Colts in the National Football League.
