Gordon Persons
The official photograph of Gov. Seth Gordon Persons (1902-1965), ca. 1951. A Montgomery native, Persons served as governor of Alabama from 1951-55 as the civil rights movement began. He instituted prison reforms and founded the Educational Television Commission while signing legislation that made Alabama more hostile to labor unions.
