Samuel Peck

Tuscaloosa native Samuel Minturn Peck (1854–1938) was the first Poet Laureate of Alabama, assuming the office in 1930 and receiving official confirmation in 1931. He served until his death in 1938 and published a number of poetry collections and short stories.
