Margaret James Murray

Renowned education advocate Booker T. Washington and Margaret James Murray were married in 1892. Murray also was an educator and public figure, serving as principal at Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute (now Tuskegee University) and as president of the National Association of Colored People from 1912-16.
