Joseph Hooker

Joseph Hooker (1814-1879), nicknamed "Fighting Joe," was a Union General during the Civil War. Hooker is best known for suffering defeat at the hands of Confederate General Robert E. Lee during the 1863 Battle of Chancellorsville. Hooker also commanded the battle at Kelly's Ford, near Culpeper, Virginia, in which Confederate Major John Pelham was killed.
