Daniel Morgan

Fort Morgan, located on Dauphin Island, is named after Revolutionary War hero General Daniel Morgan, who led a group of snipers, named Morgan's Sharpshooters, in defense of Boston after the Battle of Lexington and Concord in 1775. He is shown here in a portrait painted by Charles Wilson Peale.
