Bankhead Lock and Dam

In 1963, Alabama Power Company (APC) installed hydroelectric power equipment at the Bankhead Lock and Dam, the highest dam on the Black Warrior River. APC's power plant is located to the left of the dam, and a portion of the original two-chamber lock juts from the right side.
