William H. Councill

Educator William Hooper Councill (1848-1909) was the first president of what is now Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University in Huntsville, Madison County. Prior to his presidency he had founded the Lincoln School, also in Huntsville, and he later started a newspaper, founded a Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, and wrote several books.
