Israel Pickens

Israel Pickens (1780-1827) was governor of Alabama from 1821-25 who promoted agendas of the "North Carolina" faction versus wealthy former Georgians and oversaw the founding of a state bank. Prior to his governorship, Pickens represented North Carolina in the U.S. Congress.
