Fort Toulouse

Fort Toulouse was built by the French during the early eighteenth century near what is now Alabama's capital, Montgomery. Renamed Fort Jackson in the early nineteenth century, the structure was involved in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, the final battle of the Creek War of 1813-14. The site is now a state park.
