Mia Hamm

Mia Hamm (1972- ) gained worldwide fame as a soccer player during the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. She led American teams to Olympic and other international victories and helped develop women's soccer in the United States. She was born in Selma, Dallas County, where her father, a U.S. Air Force pilot, was stationed.
