On May 10, 1963, after continued pressure from Fred Lee Shuttlesworth to achieve concrete results from the Birmingham civil rights campaign, movement leaders Martin Luther King Jr., left, and Wyatt Tee Walker reached an agreement with business leaders resulting in limited race reforms in the city.
