Crenshaw County

Crenshaw County was formed from Butler, Coffee, Covington, Lowndes, and Pike counties in November 1866. Rutledge was named the county seat in 1867, and Luverne was voted the new county seat in 1893. The county was named for Anderson Crenshaw, a distinguished Butler County settler.
