Roanoke Doll

So-called "Roanoake Dolls" were mass produced by Ella Gaunt Smith in Roanoke, Randolph County, around the turn of the twentieth century. In 1904, Smith exhibited them at the St. Louis World's Fair, where she won the Grand Prize for Innovation. The dolls are now a prized collector's item.
