Athens State University

Athens State University is the oldest state university in Alabama, founded in 1822 as Athens Female Academy. A two-year senior college located in central Limestone County, the university offers graduate degrees in accounting and management. The Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention is held on the university's campus the first weekend of October.
