Dismals Canyon

Dismals Canyon, in southern Franklin County, is a secluded gorge featuring waterfalls and hundreds of plant species. Former vice president Aaron Burr hid in Dismals Canyon for two weeks in 1804 after his plot to take over, by military force, the southern half of the United States. It is a Registered National Natural Landmark.
