Dillingham Street Covered Bridge
In 1832, Horace King and John Godwin built the first Dillingham Street Covered Bridge, spanning the Chattahoochee River between
Columbus, Georgia, and Girard (now Phenix City). The bridge subsequently was destroyed by flooding and by fire during the
Battle of Girard in 1865, and was rebuilt or repaired several times by King.
