Camp Aliceville
Camp Aliceville in Pickens County was an internment center for German prisoners of war during World War II. It was one of
the largest such camps in the U.S., holding more than 6,000 prisoners. Today the Aliceville Museum and Cultural Center preserves
the legacy of the camp, displaying personal effects from World War II participants and exhibits on local and military history.
