Coal Miner 1935

Walker County's economy toward the end of the nineteenth century centered on the coal and timber industries, as well as construction of new railroad lines. The early twentieth century saw Walker County's coal production second only to Baldwin County, and the damming of the Sipsey and Black Warrior rivers increased the county's economic base.
