Philip Roddey
Philip Roddey, born in Moulton, Alabama, worked in the tailoring, law enforcement, and steamboat industries before volunteering for the Confederacy when the Civil War began. He rose to the rank of brigadier general, commanding forces in north Alabama and in Atlanta in 1863-64. He surrendered to Union forces in Selma in May 1865.
