J. L. M. Curry

J.L.M. Curry (1825-1903) was an Alabama lawyer, soldier, and lawmaker who worked to establish education and training systems in the state. He was a representative in the U.S. House from 1857-61, when Alabama seceded. Following the Civil War he became a Baptist minister and a college professor. Curry contributed to the establishment of public schools and education programs for African Americans in the former Confederacy.
