Wager Swayne

Union General Wager T. Swayne led the Freedmen's Bureau in Alabama during the Reconstruction Era after the Civil War. He oversaw the establishment of secondary schools for African Americans in Selma, Montgomery, and Mobile, as well as the creation of Talladega College.
