Helen Keller

Helen Keller (1880-1968) is one of the most widely known figures from Alabama. Famed for the story of her relationship with teacher Anne Sullivan, she also wrote books, lectured on social reform issues, won an Academy Award, and traveled the world before her death in 1968.
