Civil rights activist Albert Turner Sr. poses with equipment used to manufacture gasohol at a distillery in Perry County. Turner and other members of the Southwest Alabama Farmer's Cooperative worked to organize farmers in the Black Belt to lobby for equal support for Black farmers in the region, and the production of gasohol, a combination of gasoline and ethanol, was one of the efforts aimed at reducing energy costs for them.
