Rheta Grimsley Johnson and Hines Hall

Columnist and author Rheta Grimsley Johnson grew up in Montgomery, Montgomery County, and has written about southern life and culture throughout her career. Here, she poses with husband Hines Hall, retired Auburn University history professor, and dog Hank, named for world-renowned musician Hank Williams. Johnson's 2012 book Hank Hung the Moon and Warmed Our Cold, Cold Hearts is part memoir and part exploration of southern culture through Williams's music and life.
