Martin Luther King Jr. in Tuskegee

Civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. speaks at a meeting of the Tuskegee Civic Association on July 2, 1957. King and other civil rights leaders traveled to the city in support of the Tuskegee Boycott, launched in the wake of redistricting in the city by the Alabama State Legislature that disfranchised almost all of the city’s registered black voters.
