Callie V. S. Granade

Callie V. S. Granade (1950- ) is a senior judge of the U. S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama. Here, she is sworn into office in March 2002 by Judge Brevard Hand. The first female federal prosecutor in Mobile and the first female judge in the district, Granade was appointed to the bench in 2002 by Pres. George W. Bush. She is the granddaughter of Richard Rives, the federal judge who wrote the majority opinion in striking down the segregation of Montgomery city buses as unconstitutional.
