Nat "King" Cole Birthplace

Famed singer, composer, and musician Nat "King" Cole was born in this home in Montgomery, Montgomery County, on March 17, 1919. In 2000, the home was relocated just inside the main entrance of Alabama State University, also in Montgomery, and restored. It sits next to the home of civil rights leader Ralph Abernathy and across the street from the Montgomery Interpretive Center at Alabama State University, which opened in early 2020. It is part of the National Park Service's Selma to Montgomery Civil Rights Trail.
