Gardendale Homesteads Barn

This rammed-earth barn was one of many structures built by the federal government for the Gardendale Homesteads, a program of the New Deal U.S. Resettlement Administration. The unique homes were chronicled for the agency by noted documentary photographer Arthur Rothstein, who took this image in 1937.
