Black Gum

The black gum (Nyssa sylvatica) tree, also known as the tupelo or sour gum, is a hardwood occurring in the eastern and southeastern United States that grows up to 80 feet. The tree is important commercially and is a popular food plant for honeybees, producing the sought-after tupelo honey.
