The largemouth bass (M. s. salmoides) occurs throughout the eastern United States. Largemouth bass eat threadfin shad, minnows, smaller sunfishes, crayfishes, and amphibians. Spawning usually occurs in April and May when water temperatures vary from 63? to 68? F. Top life span of the largemouth bass in Alabama is 10 to 12 years.
