The University of South Alabama Mitchell College of Business is named for Abraham, Mayer, and Arlene Mitchell, who donated the funds for an endowment for the college in 1999. The Mitchell family founded the Mitchell Company, one of the largest real estate firms in the Southeast until its sale in 1985.
