Julius Rosenwald

Julius Rosenwald (1862-1932) was a successful business executive and philanthropist whose Rosenwald Fund made possible the construction of thousands of Rosenwald Schools for African Americans across the South during the early twentieth century. Many such schools and related buildings were also constructed in Alabama. Numerous examples still exist and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage, administered by the Alabama Historical Commission.
