John Brown Gordon (1832-1904) was Confederate general during the Civil War who later served in the U.S. Senate and as governor of Georgia (1886-90) and was a close ally of Alabama governor Thomas Goode Jones. Gordon also was a leader of the Ku Klux Klan during Reconstruction.
