John Lewis Video

John Robert Lewis (1940-2020) was a central figure in the civil rights movement. He was brutalized during the Selma to Montgomery march on what became known as the Bloody Sunday and the Freedom Rides, helping draw national attention to the protests. A native of Pike County, he entered politics in 1981 as an Atlanta city councilman and then served in the U.S. Congress for more than 30 years.
