Freedom Quilting Bee, Part 1

The quilting co-operative known as the Freedom Quilting Bee began in Wilcox County during the civil rights movement, when Father Francis Walter began helping African American women sell their quilts. Walter describes the plight of poor blacks as white employers fired them for registering to vote, and the economic solution that quilting provided.
