Braxton Bragg

Confederate general Braxton Bragg (1817-1876) asked Mobile Register editor John Forsyth Jr. to join him and his Army of Tennessee in Kentucky in 1862, during the American Civil War. Bragg had hoped to bring Kentucky into the Confederacy and Forsyth reported his failing to other newspapers. Bragg was Confederate president Jefferson Davis's military advisor toward the end of the war.
